Injuries kept Danny Milosevic, Gary Kelly, Rio Ferdinand, Dominic Matteo and Lee Bowyer from playing in the final game of the Swedish tour. Once more Eirik Bakke shone in midfield and after he had been brought down in the area, Ian Harte stepped up to score from the spot in the thirty-sixth minute. Olivier Dacourt scored from a free-kick right on half-time to give United a 2-0 advantage at the break. A clinical finish from Mark Viduka ten minutes into the second half and Harte rounded off the scoring with a trademark free-kick from thirty yards with eleven minutes left on the clock. The game was played at Varberg, seventy-five kilometers south of Gothenburg.
